KNOW
The conversation last week about the new Directory for Catechesis was as inspiring as it was challenging. Have I failed in some way to make it clear how the Directory impacts everything we do in formation? Has the busyness of life and work and ministry overtaken us so that we miss to proverbial forest for the trees? What can we do to reconcile what you need to know with what you have to do?
Since the Directory is at the very root of The One, I thought it might be nice to make sure we all understood the marriage of these two endeavors. To that end, all formation leaders in parishes will be getting a present from Bishop Caggiano: a copy of the Directory for Catechesis. It will arrive at your parish in the coming weeks. If you already have one, pass the new one along to a colleague. Read it. Absorb it.
Then, on February 22, 2024, join Bishop Caggiano for a Catechetical Summit at the Catholic Center for all formation leaders (clergy welcome, but not required). The bishop will offer his thoughts, you can ask questions, and then we will be guided through the relevant parts of the Directory with someone who knows it well. Breakfast is at 9:30. Program starts at 10 am. We will wrap at 2:00 pm.
At the end of the summit, we will launch the formation that you can use for your own formation and for sharing relevant parts of the document with your catechists and parents.

REFLECT
One thought.
If the only prayer you ever say in your entire life is thank you, that would be enough.
Meister Eckhart got it right. Not much more to say.
Happy Thanksgiving.
