KNOW

In addition to the upcoming events flyer we already mentioned, please mark August 24 on your calendar and tell anyone in your parish who has anything to do with RCIA about the workshop that will be hosted on that day by someone who has actually read the entire rite and the new Order of Christian Initiation which will replace the current rite. The workshop will be at the Catholic Center.

The grant application for 2024 Vacation Bible School/Camp is not live. You can access it here. Deadline is May 15, 2025.

Understanding the Directory, Part II, has now been assigned in LEAD. If you did not join the group and lost the link, please contact Carmela.

Our webinar series continues this Thursday for the gender identity document. You can register here. All pastoral leaders really should sign up.

REFLECT

From Fr. Ron Rolheiser, OMI, we reflect this week on the Ascension with Mary Magdala’s Easter Prayer.

I never suspected
Resurrection
and to be so painful
to leave me weeping

With Joy
to have met you, alive and smiling, outside an empty tomb

With Regret
not because I’ve lost you
but because I’ve lost you in how I had you –
in understandable, touchable, kissable, clingable flesh
not as fully Lord, but as graspably human.

I want to cling, despite your protest
cling to your body
cling to your, and my, clingable humanity
cling to what we had, our past.

But I know that…if I cling
you cannot ascend and
I will be left clinging to your former self
…unable to receive your present spirit.
