REFLECT
Just in case you have been under a rock lately, this is the week of calm before the many events that will occur from May 19-June 1.
Pentecost, the birthday of the Church is Sunday. Our Diocesan Eucharistic Procession begins in Bridgeport at Blessed Sacrament Church on Pentecost Sunday, May 19, 2024 at noon. After that, processions will move through towns of Fairfield, Ridgefield, Norwalk, Darien, Stamford and Greenwich. See below for a full breakdown of where the procession will be and when.
The Diocesan Eucharistic Processions will culminate in a Mass of Thanksgiving at Fairfield University on the Eve of Corpus Christi, Saturday, June 1, 2024. The upcoming Eucharistic Procession throughout the Diocese is an historic invitation to celebrate the gift of the Eucharist in our lives. It will be a time of celebration, communal witness, spiritual renewal, and encounter with the Lord.
How can you help? First, pray for the success and the thousands that will gather for these events. Pray for open minds, open hearts, conversion of souls, peace along the route – whatever you think will help spread the Spirit – pray for that.
Then, join in whatever you are able to join in. Even if it is simply standing along the route or volunteering at your parish. A national procession is odd sort of thing. It doesn’t happen every day (or every year) and I think all of us can agree that this country needs God right now. The world needs a Savior. Let us join together and let the Spirit move us to be better, speak more kindly, love one another, and be the hands of feet of our Risen Lord.
