REFLECT

The snow has, for now, given way to the sun, and I am so glad to be outside, walking the dogs, and catching some rays of light. I love snow, and I love working from home, but there is a part of me that misses the camaraderie in the office, the sound of laughter from the people around me, and the ability to share ideas with those I am blessed to work with.

So much is planned for March, and I am excited for these events – and even more excited at the thought of getting through them successfully. I am reminded of Henri Nouwen’s words about ministry.

“I have always been complaining that my work was constantly interrupted; then I realised that the interruptions were my work.”

The unpleasant things, the hard moments, the unexpected setbacks carry more potential than we usually realize. The phone calls, the emails, the invoices – all of them find their way into our day and hijack the holy moments.

Perhaps the challenge this week is that we can treat the interruptions as blessings, distractions as God’s way of keeping us focused on the mission, and those with whom we minister as coworkers in the vineyard that remains both a busy place and fertile ground.
